MY STORY
I grew up an athletic, but also overweight kid. Because I hated my size, I was willingly put on a diet around age 8 which sparked an early interest in "healthy" eating and exercise. Over time, that interest became complicated, and I spent most of my teens and early twenties dealing with a serious eating disorder.
At nineteen, I moved to New York City just to get out of my small TN town. I jumped between jobs and schools while trying to figure out what I wanted to do. One day, while working out with a friend who was a personal trainer, I was complaining about whatever odd job I was doing at the time she suggested I apply for a job at her gym. I had no experience but they hired me anyway. That unexpected opportunity changed everything. I had found my passion.
Since then, I have been continuously learning through thousands of hours of coaching people of all sizes, ages and levels as well as formal certifications like NASM, Functional Range Conditioning, Kinstretch,StrongFirst Kettlebells Level 1 and Katie St. Claires Empowered Performance Mentorship. I've been lucky to have many amazing mentors and take continuing education seriously.
Exploring movement and strength training helped in my healing. It shifted my focus from what my body looked like to what it could do and gave me an outlet for the emotions and anxiety behind my struggles.
I believe we have far more influence over how we age than most people realize. Training to me is not about quick fixes. It's about connecting with parts of ourselves that we might have forgotten and building strength, capacity, and resilience so we can stay as active and independent for as long as possible. And a nice by product of that is aesthetics :).
You really do get to choose how you age, but it takes consistency, intention, and a long term mindset.
I work with people who are in it for the long haul. No boot camps. No six week abs. My approach is about helping you move like an athlete and build real long lasting strength. And hopefully have some fun in the process!

When I am not training clients, you can find me working on jump rope tricks, playing with my pups, eating dark chocolate, obsessively vacuuming, or traveling.
